Wir als Zbären Sounds hatten eines dieser einzigartigen Instrumente an Lager (#8 von insgesamt 19 weltweit).
Dies ist die 14″ x 6.5″ Ankh Bell Bronze Snare, die zweite offizielle Instrumentenkreation aus der Zusammenarbeit zwischen A&F Drum Co. und Sabian Cymbals.
Es handelt sich um 5 mm B-20 Sabian Bronze, direkt von der Sabian-Giesserei, handgehämmert von Sabian’s feinstem, speziell in Sabian’s Öfen temperiertes Material – was die Brandspuren Brand verursacht (das ist KEINE Patina).
Danach wird das vorgefertigte Material nach Austin, Texas (USA) zu A&F Drum Co. verschickt, wo alles handgewalzt, geschweisst, gebohrt und handgerollt wird. Schlussendlich wird alles für dieses seltene und schöne 12 Kilo-Instrument zusammengebaut.
A&F Drum Co. & Sabian begannen mit 25 Blechen aus der Sabian-Giesserei (es wird übrigens nur einmal im Jahr Metall geschmolzen). 6 Bleche gingen im „Trial-and-Error-Prozess“ verloren, wo A&F zusammen mit Sabian den richtigen Weg finden musste, das Metall zu erwärmen und abzukühlen, damit es nicht reisst. Deshalb gibt es derzeit nur 19 dieser Schönheiten weltweit anzubieten.

This is the 6.5×14 Ankh Bell Bronze Snare, the 2nd official Instrument creation from our collaboration with Sabian.
It’s 5mm B-20 Sabian Bronze direct from the Sabian foundry, hand hammered by Sabian’s finest, specially tempered in the Sabian ovens which is what caused the burn finish(that is NOT patina).
Then sent to us here in Austin where we hand rolled, welded, drilled, edged, and cut beds on the shell; hand rolled, welded, and sanded the hoops; cut, lathed, tapped, tumbled lugs and tubes, and put it all together for this rare and beautiful 24 pound instrument.
So we started out with 25 sheets from the Sabian foundry, which only melts metal once a year. We lost 6 of them in the trial and error process where together with Sabian we had to discover the proper way to heat and cool the metal so it wouldn’t crack, and now are left with only 19 of these beauties to offer.
